The Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department leapt into action this weekend for a call that turned out to be a false alarm. The department was summoned to the Hudson River for the report of a hot air balloon down north of Sing Sing Prison in Ossining and south of Croton Point Park at 8:21 p.m. Friday.
